Award-Winning Artist Unveils His Most Personal Album Yet: “Trauma Tonic”
Bali, Indonesia—SEP. 2024—Shervin Boloorian, the acclaimed peace song artist and multi-instrumentalist, is set to release his highly anticipated solo album, Trauma Tonic. This latest work takes listeners on a powerful and atmospheric journey, blending diverse musical genres with messages of hope and resilience. In a world increasingly marked by division and trauma, Shervin’s new album offers modern music that resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.
Trauma Tonic is a departure from Shervin’s previous medicine songs and ancient Persian Sufi music. Sung entirely in English, the album’s dreamlike soundscapes dive deep into personal themes of recovery, identity, and the search for love and self-acceptance. With Grammy-winning producer Kipper Eldridge (Sting’s Brand New Day) and chart-topping producer Ric Peet (International People’s Gang-UK) at the helm, the album’s tracks are a masterclass in polished production and edginess.
According to Shervin, the cocreations on this album lifted his music to new heights “Working with Kipper completely enhanced my creative abilities,” Shervin says, “his musicianship as a featured artist and his insights as a creative consultant (as well as producer) on several tracks, elevated my artistry.”
Vocal Excellence: The Heart of Trauma Tonic
Shervin’s vocals are the standout feature of this record, fearlessly breathing life and ghostly emotional intensity into each experience of personal loss and empowerment. His hauntingly delicate voice, with its signature breathy vibrato, appropriately takes center stage on such an intimate collection of songs. On every track, he bravely showcases a level of authenticity and maturity that marks his best studio performances to date. Whether delivering raw emotion or subtle nuances, Shervin’s voice captivates the listener, drawing them into the depths and heights of his personal journey.
Shervin’s vocal prowess is particularly evident in his first release, a gospel-inspired rendition of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence,”, where Shervin’s fresh new chorus melody and soulful singing underscores a newfound versatility and creative imagination.
The paradoxically joyful pop melody of ,“One More Day” cleverly disguises the hidden depression of losing a parent, while “This is Your Time,” inspired by a poem from Palestinian-American activist Manal Omar, features Persian Ney flute and serves as an inspiring phoenix-from-the-ashes anthem, comparable to Xavier Rudd’s Spirit Bird. Other tracks like “Never Will Hope Surrender v.2” stand as a fragile defiance against brutal oppression. Making peace with profound romantic heartbreak is shared in the silky “Pure Hearts” ballad merging Eldridge’s airy piano with live strings from featured artist, Sakkari Heikka (FIN), who also performs on Enjoy the Silence. .
The album’s pop-laced hooks and sophisticated vocal arrangements reveal an artist who is not only pushing the boundaries of his own capabilities but also redefining the sound of healing music with a fresh and contemporary edge.
