The Three Zones of Sound — Module 1 Online Course

A foundational sound healing course with Shervin Boloorian. Learn the Shamanic, Heart and Celestial Zones from wherever you are in the world. Our next online cohort begins August 18.

The first time the waves of low frequency sound physically move through your body, you stop thinking. The breath slows on its own. The face softens and the body relaxes. I’ve watched this happen thousands of times over a decade and a half— in Ubud, at the Yoga Barn, and throughout the world, in front of people who arrived tense and left quiet and enlivened.

For years that work only happened in person. Now, for the first time, I’m teaching this foundational course online.

If you’ve wanted to understand how sound actually reaches a person — in the body, in the feeling space, in the mind — and you want to do it with real structure and best practices that work, instead of guesswork, this is where you begin.

The challenges with most sound healing training

I’ve trained several hundred people since 2018, and I keep meeting practitioners who got stuck in the same place. Their training was overly intuitive, overly esoteric, or overly music-first. They could create a nice atmosphere, but they couldn’t tell you why a session worked, or what to do when it wasn’t working.

That existing gap is what the Three Zones method was designed to close. It’s a clear, repeatable framework — Shamanic, Heart, Celestial (Low, Mid, and High Frequencies)— that lets you track what’s actually happening in the room and make choices you can explain in plain language: what you’re doing, why, and when it’s time to soften, pause, or shift.

ALL levels welcome, No music background needed. So long as you are keen to listen and practice what you learn on your own.

What you’ll learn

This is the foundation course for the Three Zones of Sound method; the system I created and wrote a book about. Over the course you’ll work through:

The Three Zones of Sound — Shamanic, Heart, and Celestial — how to group your instruments, how play them and how to move between them with intention

How to lead a practice session end to end, with your own instruments

Healing-voice training in three techniques, including mantra and the therapeutic use of your own voice

Practical instrument work — how to actually play the core instruments in a session, with live support

The grounded, receiver-first approach I use with every group: presence over performance

The benefits people come for are real and repeatable. They will make you stand out among your peers in your understanding and ability to relax, and calm a nervous system from stress and overload. That’s what sound does well. I won’t promise you anything outlandish.

How the course works

This is a structured, step by step, online course, not a pile of videos. Here’s the shape of it:

  • 7–8 weeks, with lessons released step by step (drip) on our course platform, ProProfs — so you move through it in order, at a steady pace, not all at once.
  • Videos, exercises, and downloadable materials support every part of the teaching.
  • A live Zoom call after each section — a recap, your questions answered, and a hands-on instrument demonstration. This is where the material settles in.
  • A course forum on the platform for discussion on any topic as you go.
  • Ongoing community on Skool and WhatsApp — so the support continues after the course ends.
  • An end-of-course video assessment: you record a short practice session putting what you’ve learned into action, and I review it personally.
  • Everything is built so that whether you are brand new to sound or already practising anywhere in the world, you can follow the course and come out able to actually do the work.
  • Live call schedule: (Remaining times TBD based on student locations)
    • Introduction, Method and Formula for Healing Sound– AUGUST 25, 2026 10 p.m. Bali time
    • Shamanic Zone, SEPT 15, 2026 TBD
    • Heart Zone, SEPT 29, 2026 TBD
    • Celestial Zone and Putting the Three Zones Together, OCT 13, 2026, TBD

What you’ll need

You don’t need a studio. It helps to have access to a few core instruments:

  • A frame drum
  • Singing bowls
  • A rattle
  • A gong
  • A small bell
  • A stringed instrument — guitar or melody harp works well (ukulele is fine too); these are usually easy to find online
  • A flute is optional
  • Your voice is included — and it’s an instrument too. If you have an acoustic instrument that isn’t on this list, message me; in most cases we can bring it into the system.

Who this is for

  • People who are new to sound and want a grounded, real introduction rather than something floaty
  • Practitioners who already work with sound but want structure, clarity, and a method they can explain
  • Yoga teachers, therapists, musicians, and wellness facilitators who want to add holistic sound work to what they already do
  • Anyone wanting a quality-first personal deep dive into how sound supports the body — for themselves, their family, and their community

Who this is not for

  • Anyone looking for a quick certificate without doing the practice
  • Anyone expecting medical cures. Sound supports relaxation, presence, and nervous-system regulation. It is not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
  • Anyone not passionate about being in service

A little about who’s teaching you

I’m Shervin Boloorian. I certified as a trained sound therapist in 2011 and launched Bali’s first sound healing program at the Yoga Barn in 2012, It has grown into the longest-serving sound healing program on the island.

A few things that might matter to you as you decide:

  • Trained at Fabien Maman’s Tama-Do “Way of the Soul” Academy, one of the most respected sound healing schools in the world
  • Author of The Three Zones of Sound — the method this course teaches
  • Winner of three Global Peace Song Awards (2020) for the sound healing album “I Hear You, Mother Earth”
  • Named one of Bali’s top 5 healers (Honeycombers, 2018)
  • Several thousand guests, and several hundred trainees taught since 2018

I’m telling you this so you know the method is widely tested. The rest of the page is about what it can do for you.

What past in-person students have said

These reviews are from my in-person trainings in Bali. This is the first year the course is offered online, so I won’t dress them up as online reviews — but the method you’ll learn is the exact same one these students took.

“Coming from a background as a musician, I was already familiar with sound, rhythm, vibration, and the emotional power of music. However, this training took me far beyond technique or theory. Shervin has a rare ability to bridge musical intelligence with deep therapeutic presence.”

— Cindyanti Oh Chia, Music Educator, Jakarta

“I chose Sound Healing Bali because Shervin’s experience as both a musician and a sound therapist is truly reliable. This training expanded my understanding of the potential of sound, not only through the methods taught, but also through the direct experience of receiving sound vibrations in his sessions. What I learned here aligns beautifully with the knowledge I studied before, including TCM. It feels complete, enriching, and gives me a wider space to explore my creativity and intuition.”

— Yuli Tjahyadi, past student

You can also watch a video with testimonials from graduates of this method here.

What happens after you finish

Module 1 is the foundation. Once you complete it and pass the video assessment, you’ll be ready to lead practice sessions with your own instruments for family, friends, and your community.

It’s also the prerequisite for Module 2, the advanced course in Bali that leads toward practitioner status. If you want to continue, we’ll support you with any additional exercises and preparation needed for when Module 2 opens (next Module 2 class is Feb 15, 2027).

So whether you’re here for your own deepening, to present to friends and family or to build toward becoming a professional practitioner, Module 1 is the doorway to a wider world and a deeper understanding.

Questions before you enroll?

A few common things people ask:

  • I’m completely new to sound. Will I be lost?

No. The course is built for people starting from zero. The whole point of the Three Zones method is that it’s clear and teachable, step by step. No music background is assumed.

  • I’m in a very different time zone. Can I still do this?

Yes. The lessons are released on ProProfs and are yours to work through on your own schedule. The live Zoom calls happen after each section — see the schedule above for times and the anchor time zone. If you ever miss one, the community on Skool and WhatsApp is there between calls.

  • What instruments do I really need to start?

Your voice, to begin with — it’s central because of its scientific power. Beyond that, the core instruments are listed above. You can gather them as you go; you don’t need all of them on day one.

  • Is this a certification?

Module 1 is the foundational course and the prerequisite for Module 2, which is the path toward practitioner status. Module 1 on its own prepares you to lead practice sessions for family, friends, and community.

  • What do I get for $450?

The full Module 1 teachings, all videos and downloadable materials, the live Zoom call after each section, the course forum, ongoing Skool and WhatsApp community, and a personal review of your end-of-course practice session video.

  • What if I have a question that isn’t here?

Message me directly on WhatsApp and I’ll answer you myself.

Ready to begin?

This is the first time the Three Zones foundation has been available online, and our first cohorts are small on purpose. If learning sound properly, with structure, in a way that’s been quietly calling you, August 18 is where it begins.
